Powdersville Elementary Earns Excellent Report Card Rating

School earns "Excellent" score in both absolute and growth categories for third year in a row.

Powdersville Elementary School continues its tradition of excellence in education by earning an “Excellent” rating on the annual South Carolina School Report Card.

Powdersville Elementary scored “Excellent” in both the absolute and growth categories.

This is the third year in a row that Powdersville can claim this distinction. “This report card score only confirms what we already knew; that our teachers and students do a wonderful job in the classroom and deserve recognition,” said Principal Mrs. Debbie Gill.

Powdersville Elementary School, like every public school in South Carolina, is preparing for a new set of more rigorous standards called the Common Core State Standards. Even with the new standards and a new state assessment on the way, assistant principal Brad Moore expects the teachers and students at Powdersville Elementary School to be up to the challenge. “We expect our school to lead the way and take on new challenges while maintaining the same standard of excellence,” said Mr. Moore.

Teachers were notified of the school’s report card score at a special faculty meeting while students were made aware with a special announcement on the school’s morning news program.
