Can the School District of Pickens County afford to provide

This is incredible! I attended the meeting. This is either fraud or mismanagement on the part of…Read More school district project management. Board of education handled it poorly.
After two years knowing it was to be two schools to come up in last month and reverse the vote.
This sounds like mismanagement on the part of the School Board and the person responsible for the…Read More building project. They don't know how much money they have left to spend. How do you run a business that way? If we the public ran any business that way, we would be out of business. I can't imagine a building designed for 750 students housing 1,400. What mass confusion. How do we expect them to learn in the enviroment.
Easley contributes more to the tax base than other parts of Pickens County. We should be entitled to our fair share of the monies being spent on new construction. The schood board should see that their records are accurate and that someone is accountable for the funds being spent. The public should be giving an accounting of the monies, get it right and be accountable or get out. We don't need this.
It is time for a NEW school board that knows how to run a business. Enough said!
I was really embarrassed for our school board last night. Not only do they not know where the money…Read More is/went; they also met in smaller secret groups to avoid having to have a public meeting. While technically legal, this is highly unethical. I do respect Judy Edwards and Ben Trotter for coming to the meeting and speaking on their positions.

AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 63-7-730, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING…Read More TO EXPEDITED PLACEMENT OF A CHILD WITH RELATIVES AT THE PROBABLE CAUSE HEARING, SO AS TO ENCOURAGE PLACEMENT OF A CHILD WITH A GRANDPARENT OR OTHER RELATIVE OF THE FIRST OR SECOND DEGREE UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES; TO SET FORTH CRITERIA FOR THE COURT TO CONSIDER WHEN DECIDING WHETHER TO PLACE A CHILD WITH A GRANDPARENT OR OTHER RELATIVE OF THE FIRST OR SECOND DEGREE AT THE PROBABLE CAUSE HEARING; TO REQUIRE THE COURT TO CONSIDER A PARENT FOR PLACEMENT OF A CHILD AT THE PROBABLE CAUSE HEARING BEFORE CONSIDERING OTHER RELATIVES OF THE FIRST OR SECOND DEGREE IN CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES; AND TO PROVIDE THAT IF THE COURT PLACES A CHILD WITH A GRANDPARENT OR OTHER RELATIVE OF THE FIRST OR SECOND DEGREE AT THE PROBABLE CAUSE HEARING, THE INDIVIDUAL MAY BE ADDED AS A PARTY TO THE ACTION FOR THE DURATION OF THE CASE OR UNTIL FURTHER ORDER OF THE COURT. http://www.scstatehouse.gov/sess120_2013-2014/bills/3464.htm
sad we have to legislate common sense...then parse and play a semantic game with legal terms...
Additional follow up: We are hearing from several other states. Similar legislation passed in…Read More Oregon only a day or so after the South Carolina bill became law. Additionally, we have been contacted by state Representatives from Illinois and Tennessee saying they intend to introduce the same. South Carolina is leading the Nation on something good. Ain't it great?
We love to go to the Highway 25 Drive-In in Greenwood. They have two screens showing 2 - 3 movies…Read More per night each and you can get a great burger or sandwich from their concession stand, too. It's a very family-oriented venue with a playground in front of the screen to keep the kids entertained before the movie starts.
Saw many movies at drive ins over the years. Cannot remember the first one or the last one, but, it…Read More was always fun. One thing I loved about them was the fact you could bring your own concessions and save a lot of money. I also remember the playgrounds just about all of them had to keep the children entertained before the show started, during intermission and while waiting for the cars to get out. Only thing I did not enjoy going with my family, our dad always left before the end of the second feature, to beat the crowd. One movie I waited more than 30 years to see the end of it and had to stay up until 2 AM and be at work at 6 the next morning, lol.
I miss those days. Thanks for letting me know the one on Highway 25 in Greenwood is open.
It will NEVER work right the way it is designed. How are you going to get your mouth in there to get…Read More the last bit of the burger? Too much of the food is actually in the holder and there is seemingly no way to get past the little prongs on the sides to get you mouth in there. Remember, it takes two hands to handle a Whopper!
I was wondering about the last bit of the burger too, Sammy. Also, if the thing is supposed to let…Read More you multi-task while you munch, how can you see what you're doing with a burger and big plastic thing dangling in front of your face?
there is no excuse for adultery. If your married first you should remain celibate until marriage.…Read More Second you should not need porn with your spouse. Its about LOVE and RESPECT
When I find out that an actor/actress is gay, I no longer watch their programs. As a born again…Read More Christian, I cannot (backed by the Bible in Romans chapter one) approve of that life style.
The mom says the child pushed her to work harder at her studies. Doesn't that count for something?…Read More We had students who used them in their senior "memory" pages, but not in their school photo. But regardless of her choices as a teen, being a mom is a huge representation of the person you become and that she became as a result of having the child. How is that less significant than a football?
Why is it shameful or a mistake? She made a bad decision that gave her the most precious gift a…Read More human could receive, and she stepped up and raised this baby, and graduated! I was the youngest sister of 3 girls and my sister took me as her "prop" she was never ask who I was or anything the pic was used in the yearbook. Its is not shameful to show others that one bad decision doesn't have to lead to more! To me this could have been used to help encouraged other teen mom's, cause lets face it teen motherhood. Is an issue these days.
37 years ago, our daughter caught chicken pox at her day care. When I called to let them know, I was…Read More told, "Yes, it is going around, we have had several cases." One of the spots on her face got infected and a couple of weeks later meningitis put her into the hospital on her second birthday. Was there a conecction? We do not know, but if there had been a vaccine for CP then, it might have saved us that horrible experience.
I'm with you JackDaniel - this sounds like something designed to pad someone's pocket. If someone…Read More wants to learn CPR, they can find ways to do it. I took a CPR class many years ago where I worked, and I can guarantee you that if I had to do it now, whomever I was doing it on would be in trouble. The fact of the matter is that if you don't have a deep interest in retaining the skill, you're going to forget whatever it is you learned within a year or two, and unless you happen to beat the odds and find yourself in the whatever-hundred thousand to one situation where you would actually need to remember, it is going to be a complete waste of time. Bottom line - while it sounds like a noble goal, it's a big waste of time and a complete misuse of school time that should be spent on the three R's.
I just checked Sen Malloy's record and it appears that he is zero for 18 on getting bills passed…Read More this session. He did get three resolutions passed so he is 3 for 22 overall. Maybe he needs to change his line of work. I am still looking for any connection to a company that sells medical/rescue equipment.
Is the state going to give the classes free or are the parents going to be stuck paying the bill for…Read More them Seems like a good idea on the surface, but, if CPR is not done right, it can kill the very person you are trying to save. Most people in an emergency situation, panic and do not do what they are supposed to do. Cool heads rarely prevail.
I don't think they should run background checks, but they should state up front that they don't and…Read More advice their customers to do so.

I think they should since all of the mentioned are out to make a buck, i.e. the dating sites, the…Read More possible scam-er slash criminal and the back ground check service, more scams are going on these days and not just on the internet
I think if the high school students passed all the required courses for graduation then they…Read More shouldn't have to take the exit exam but if the ones that are failing should have to take it and give them one last chance to earn their diploma.
Sounds a little weird that you would hold your kid over the sink so that they can go to the…Read More bathroom. That doesn't sound very sanitary. It would be better if children would learn to associate toilets rather than sinks as the place to go potty!
This is nonsense. It is someone's idea of how to assuage a belief that the parent has to be more in…Read More a child's life or have greater control of a child's life rather than teaching the child to control their own lives. Frankly, the notion of allowing my toddler to run around like that is nauseating and I'd be visiting less if a friend was going this.
