Greer man charged in local burglaries

A Greer man is suspected in two burglaries in the Pickens and Easley areas.

A Greer man is facing charges in connection with several burglaries in the area.

Demitri Anwar Duhart, of 42 Spring Crossing Circle, Greer, is charged with first-degree burglary and grand larceny, according to a Pickens County Sheriff's Office release.

The release states that deputies responded May 15 to a reported burglary at a residence on Griffin Mill Road in Pickens.

The homeowner told deputies he'd left his home at 3pm, and that when he returned two hours later he found the front door had been kicked in and that numerous items had been taken from his home.

That same day, deputies received another report of a burglary, this time on McGaha Road in Easley. The homeowner arrived home to find that his front door had been kicked in, the release said.

After inspecting his home, he discovered several items were missing, including a firearm.

Acting on information received from the Laurens County Sheriff's Office, investigators focused their investigation on Duhart, the release said.

Sheriff C. David Stone noted, “This is yet another example of the positive results from good communication and cooperative effort between law enforcement agencies.”

In addition to the Pickens County charges, Duhart faces multiple counts of burglary and larceny in Laruens County, where he is currently behind held.

Additional Pickens County charges are expected as the investigation continues, the release said.
