Obit: Avenell Hunter Welborn of Easley

Avenell Hunter Welborn, 84, of Easley, wife of the late Joe B. Welborn, passed away Monday, September 2, 2013.

Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Rev. Fred B. and Mattie Powell Hunter, Mrs. Welborn graduated from Easley High School in 1946 and also graduated from Draughans Business School. She retired from the Payroll Department of Alice Manufacturing Company after thirty-two years of service and attended St. Andrew United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Lucille Searcy Sunday School Class. Mrs. Welborn was a volunteer with Baptist Easley Hospital for seven years.

Surviving are a son, Arden Welborn (Theresa Hanebrink); granddaughter, Jessica Lauren Welborn; sister, Frances Turner; brother, Garvin Hunter (Carol); four nieces and nephews, four great-nieces and nephews and one great-great-nephew. In addition to her husband of fifty-two years, and parents, Mrs. Welborn was predeceased by sisters, Bernice Holder and Jacqueline Henderson and a brother, Roy Hunter.

Cryptside services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Visitation will be immediately following the service in the mausoleum.

Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.

The family is at the home.
