1st annual Founders Day Festival draws crowd to Pickens

The First Annual Founders Day was a big success, drawing a large crowd to Pickens for the all-day festival.

Crowds enjoyed music from the stages all day, and were encouraged to bring their own musical instruments. Many did so, and jam sessions sprang up around the city throughout the day.

Attendees got to hear from established musicians, such as Shannon and Heather Slaughter, and up-and-comers like the members of the Young Appalachian Musicians program. There was even a visit from the county's founder himself, Gen. Andrew Pickens.

There were old-timey games to play and lots of food to eat.

The festival culminated in a huge jam session and a large contra dance ended the evening.
