Dead Bat Found at East End Elementary School

No reports of students into contact with animal

Parents have been alerted about a dead bat found at East End Elementary. The dead bat was found at around 10 a.m. on Monday by a student in a classroom.

The student notified a teacher, and the teacher immediately ensured that all of the students washed their hands, using the restrooms and sinks in the
classroom.

Students weere also proviided with disinfectant wipes. Meanwhile, custodians disposed of the bat and disinfected the classroom.

At no point did any student report coming in contact with the animal, and this is the first report of a bat sighted at East End Elementary.

A contractor has been scheduled to examine the school on Monday afternoon, find out how the bat entered the school and determine what steps can be taken to prevent it from happening again.
If additional steps or information are necessary, parents will be notified.
