'Ghost Hunters' Takes on Yorktown

Wednesday episode will feature scenes from Patriots Point aircraft carrier.

The USS Yorktown will be featured in a 9 p.m. Wednesday episode of "Ghost Hunters" on the SyFy Channel. The hour-long episode was filmed in February when the WWII-era ship was closed and completely without electricity during massive repairs at the Mount Pleasant tourist attraction and museum. The USS Yorktown saw service from 1943 to 1973, the carrier is now a museum ship moored in Charleston Harbor. Video: Why Occupy Upstaged Bachmann

Protesters say they are giving a voice to unheard masses.

"We could never spend this kind of money to spread our message," said Max Brewer, one of 30 or so protesters who took over a Bachmann rally in Mount Pleasant, S.C., on Thursday.

MOUNT PLEASANT — Aboard the retired aircraft carrier the USS Yorktown, presidential hopeful Mitt Romney said if he is elected, he will invest heavily in military capital and manpower. Speaking aboard the WWII-era carrier at Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum, Romney said cutting wasteful defense spending will pay for upgrades to the Air Force and Navy fleets while adding 100,000 active-duty service members. “We need to rebuild our Navy … and our Air Force is smaller and older than it has been since its inception in 1947,” Romney said. “That simply can’t be.” Speaking to a group of retired military men and women, Romney also pledged to provide better care for retirees and for men and women injured during military conflicts. The …

We do not need to build up the military. President Eisenhower warned of the influence of the "Military Industrial Complex" and those words ring true today! Efficiency and effectiveness is tantamount in defending our shores and wiping out any enemy at home or abroad. This is the right-wing talking through one surrogate in an effort to show military strength. America needs jobs and a correction to …   more ›
