Dacusville Murder Suspect's Arraignment Canceled

Suzanna Brown Simpson released from hospital Monday afternoon.

The woman suspected in the killings of her son and daughter and the attempted murder of her husband was due in court today, but the arraignment was canceled shortly before it was to start. Suzanna Brown Simpson is charged with murdering her daughter Carly, 7, her son Sawyer, 5, and attempting to kill her husband Michael Simpson. The bodies of the children were discovered in the Simpson home on Cherokee Trail in Dacusville last Tuesday. Pickens County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Creed Hashe said that Magistrate Ben Dow received a formal request from the Public Defenders Office asking that the arraignment hearing be waived. Dacusville Murder Suspect in Court Today

Suzanna Brown Simpson charged with murdering her two children and attempting to kill her husband.

The Dacusville woman suspected of killing her daughter and son and attempting to kill her husband will be in court this morning. Suzanna Brown Simpson was released yesterday afternoon from the hospital where she was being treated for injuries. Simpson will appear in front of a Pickens County Magistrate at 10am this morning to be arraigned on criminal charges, according to Chief Deputy Creed Hashe. She is charged with murdering her daughter Carly Simpson, 7, and her son Sawyer Simpson, 5 and attempting to kill her husband Michael Simpson. 911 Calls in Simpson Murders Released

The calls led to discovery of children's bodies

The Pickens County Sheriff's Office has released the 911 calls that led to the discovery of the murders of two Dacusville children. The first 911 call concerns an accident that happened around 6 a.m. near 312 Cherokee Trail. The caller tells the dispatcher the vehicle has slammed into a tree, hard enough to uproot the tree. “They are hurt, if they are not dead,” the caller tells the dispatcher. The second caller tells dispatch that a woman has been injured in the accident. The second caller then calls back and tells dispatch that the woman involved in the accident is his neighbor and that he cannot get her husband or children to come to the door, even though the husband's vehicle is still parked in the driveway. “Something's not right,” he…

The Dacusvillle community is still in shock after the murders of two area children Tuesday. Suzanna Brown Simpson is charged with the murders of her daughter, Carly Simpson, 7 and her son, Sawyer Simpson, 5, and the attempted murder of her husband Michael Simpson A prayer vigil for the Simpson family, led by local churches, will be held at 5:30pm today in the parking lot of Dacusville Elementary School. The school is just a short distance from the Cherokee Trail home where Carly, Sawyer and their father were found Tuesday. Both children attended Dacusville Elementary School. The Dacusville woman charged with killing her children and attempting to kill her husband Tuesday remains hospitalized. Suzanna Brown Simpson is charged with murdering her daughter Carly Simpson, 7, and her son Sawyer Simpson, 5 and attempting to kill her husband Michael Simpson. Sheriff Rick Clark announced the charges Tuesday afternoon. The children's bodies were found in the family home at 307 Cherokee Trail in Dacusville Tuesday morning, after deputies responded to a wreck nearby. They were pronounced dead at the scene. No Motive for Children's Murders Uncovered

Sheriff says investigators have found no prior criminal history for Suzanna Brown Simpson, suspected in deaths of her children and attempted murder of her husband.

Yesterday was a long and difficult day for the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office as they worked the scene of a shooting that left two children dead, their father fighting for his life and their mother charged with murder. Suzanna Brown Simpson, 35, of 307 Cherokee Trail, Dacusville, is charged with two counts of murder in the deaths of her 7-year-old daughter Carly Ashelyn Simpson and her 5-year-old son Sawyer Russell Simpson. Warrants: Mom Kills Her 2 Children, Shoots Husband

Suzanna Simpson has not been officially served with the warrants as she is still in care of the hospital.

A mother of two is charged with killing her two children and leaving her husband hospitalized, according to the Pickens County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Rick Clark announced Tuesday afternoon that Suzanna Brown Simpson, 35, of 307 Cherokee Trail, Dacusville, is charged with two counts of murder in the deaths of her daughter, Carly Ashelyn Simpson, 7, and son Sawyer Russell Simpson, 5. Simpson, who also is accused of shooting her husband, Michael John Simpson,  is charged one count of attempted murder and one count of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Live Blog: Two Dead, Two Injured in Dacusville, PCSO Says

Pickens County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a wreck and homicide that happened just after 6 a.m.

Updated: 12:58pm  Two people are dead after a shooting on Cherokee Trail in Dacusville this morning. Creed Hashe, Chief Deputy with the Pickens County Sheriff's Office, says two others have been hospitalized, one with life-threatening injuries.  One of those hospitalized is believed to be the shooter, Hashe said.  The four people involved in the shooting are related, Hashe said.  The shooting victims were found after responders came to the scene of a wreck around 6 a.m., just off the roadway on Cherokee Trail. The vehicle was registered to the home on Cherokee Trail, not far from Dacusville Elementary School, Hashe said.  Deputies found the victims while seeking more information on the wreck. Prescription Drug Abuse Often Starts Early

Police, educators: Parents often unaware when prescription meds begin disappearing from family medicine cabinet.

Prescription drug abuse often begins in the teenage years, according to and law enforcement local educators. Captain Chad Brooks, Narcotics Officer with the Pickens County Sheriff's Office, School District of Pickens County Superintendent Dr. Kelly Pew and Pickens High School Principal Marion Lawson recently served on a panel convened to discuss prescription drug abuse in Pickens County. The panel was part of the “Red Zone Rally” sponsored by the Prescription Drug Abuse Alliance to raise awareness of this issue in the community. “One of the common sources for this is the family medicine cabinet at home,” Brooks said. “It's easy access for them. 22,000 people die of prescription drug overdoses annually.

Some people think efforts to fight prescription drug abuse are another example of the government overreaching, and such efforts are “so much ado about nothing,” Dr. Jim Mahanes said at the recent Red Zone Rally held to discuss the issue.
