Vaccine receives bi-partisan support today from Rep. Bakari Sellers and former First Lady Jenny Sanford.
On Monday afternoon Rep. Bakari Sellers (D-90) and former SC First Lady Jenny Sanford held a press conference on the campus of the MUSC Hollings Cancer Center to announce a bill that would offer the HPV vaccine to South Carolina children entering seventh grade. Last year, the General Assembly passed legislation that would have put a vaccine plan in place but Gov. Nikki Haley vetoed it. The vaccine has been shown to prevent cancer. Former first lady could square off against ex husband Mark Sanford.
Not long after former Gov. Mark Sanford announced he would consider running for his old seat in Congress, his ex-wife, Jenny Sanford, announced she's also considering a run for the same office. Sanford, who held the seat two decades ago before becoming governor, announced he was "studying" a run for the seat, which will be vacated by Rep. Fine for former first lady dropped to $150 for dog at large charge.

Officers had originally issued a $1,040 fine for Sanford's second dog-at-large offense, but Municipal Court Judge Lawrence Duffy Jr. dropped it to $150 at a hearing this afternoon. "I've been a judge since 1989, and I can't think of many $1,000 tickets I have signed," Duffy said. "But when people come before the court, I try to escalate the fine." Previously, Duffy dropped the fine from $500 to $90, and Sanford said she found a new home for that dog, because it truly was a "runner," and would not stay in her yard. "This dog never …
Jenny Sanford in court to deal with roaming dog.
Jenny Sanford's divorce from former S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford was settled in court more than two years ago, but now it's another male in her household that's causing her legal headaches. UPDATE: A Municipal Court Judge lowered the fine against Sanford Tuesday evening. She pleaded guilty and paid the $150 fine. Read the full update. South Carolina's former first lady heads to court today on Sullivan's Island to dispute a $1,040 fine for allowing her dog, Julius, to roam free. Jenny Sanford doesn't dispute whether her 8-year-old labrador is guilty, but she does question the amount of the fine. "He is guilty. The dog wandered, and I know it is against the rules. I'm not knocking the police." Sanford told the Post and Courier. "But isn't this …
