Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport reports May was one of their busiest months in the airport's history. The airport reporting nearly 168,000 passengers traveled to and from GSP in May 2012, up three percent over May 2011. On Wednesday, the airport launched WINGSPAN: Elevating the Upstate, a new website and brand for its Terminal Improvement Program. The $115 million project will modernize the main terminal building, improve passenger flow and upgrade the facility. No local tax dollars are being used to fund the program.
The airport is entering into the first stages of a terminal improvement project.
Phase one of the Terminal Improvement Program is now underway at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport. The multi-phase project, to be completed within the 48 months, includes building customer service counters and offices for each of the five rental car agencies, adding additional parking, renovating the baggage claim area, the building core and the concourse. GSP officials said the $102 million project will help to modernize the main terminal and improve passenger flow.
