City Approves Rec Center Purchase, New Jobs Expected
Bowers EMS will purchase the old Easley Rec Center and expects to add 20 new jobs
The city's old Recreation Center will be given new life next year after Easley City Council approved it's purchase by Bowers Emergency Services. The former Easley Recreation Center located at 618 E. Main Street has sat vacant for several years. Bowers EMS plans to restore the building and use it to expand its operations. "The best part is they may hire as many as 20 new employees," said councilman David Watson. Randy Bowers said he plans to expand the Bowers EMS operation and to add as many as 20 customer service positions, possibly more. The family-owned emergency services company is purchasing the former recreation center for $75,000 from the city.
