This is very ridiculous.......

On the face of it this is absolutely ridiculous. However it does mention in the article that theRead More construction worker became abusive with the officer. It's the old saying that you attract more bees with sugar rather that vinegar. In many situations the officer has a choice of doing nothing, issue a warning or write out the full ticket. In this case the behavior of the construction worker may have determined the officer's choice. I do hope the ticket is reduced or thrown out when this gets to court. With that said who is the knucklehead that made the decision not to allow free refills? I can not think of a single instance of a self serve soda fountain that does not allow free refills while you are on the premises. Can you imagine McDonalds putting up such a sign not allowing free refills? Sound like a very poorly run facility.

If there is anyway you can drive, do it! I'm still on my trip that was just a 3-hour flight and IRead More felt it was brutal. If you can go on-line and pre-check in with the airline, do it! If you have medical issues call and talk with the airlines Assistive Services agent so any devices you might have can be documented and any questions you have can be addressed at the airline level. My husband and I are seniors with medical issues and carry meds with us and by contacting the airline it did alleviate some of the pressure. I have been a supervisor during my working career and one thing that I find to be almost a given is that dealing with men in any situation is they handle it with a different mentality then the women. They deal with it and drive on. Women tend to get stone cold-rigid and get near to hyperventilating when something comes up that is an expected part of the job. I wear a TENS unit that helps with back pain by supplying little electric shock pulses to my back. This was documented by the airline. When the TSA agent came across it she near passes out from panic. She called for another agent and he knew of the situation and dealt with Her calmly and effectively. If you have any metal in your body or implants call the airline before flying and it will help you get through this mess. At the podium the young man answered all of my questions calmly and politely. The women, not so much. Do as much for yourself pre-flight as you can but like me you are probably still dreading your flight.

Well, the surprising part is that someone had the 'intestinal fortitude' to say it all. I had aRead More daughter in the Girl Scouts about 20 some years ago. Even then, I kept wondering when they were going to teach them about 'survival' in the wilderness or some sort of practical thing. I saw it as waaaay more left leaning than the Boy Scouts at the time.

Mr Saitta, Message is everything, and yours is fear. If you had experience beyond finance, maybe inRead More operating a business through cycles or managing people through thick and thin you might eventually understand how destructive fear is. Of course you would have to balance that understanding against your need to apply it's utility as a populist political tool. I think that a since you only have limited exposure to real business you are unlikely to gain perspective, and you are obviously too focused on denial to accept feedback. So, keep on keeping on. Fear sells to a select group. Maybe you can keep them happy forever.

As it stands, the movement you champion in PC is going to be overtaken by people you energized byRead More over-playing your hand for short term wins. By kicking every dog you have opened the door to a new pack at the next election. Good luck controlling the board after 2014.

I think what people will see is the topic was Republicans in Washington and 3 suggestions I gave onRead More how Republicans can move the conservative ball forward. You never commented on the column, but me personally throughout, Alex is hostile, Alex sells fear and how Alex is this way and Alex is that way. Just in the last 2 posts you used the word "Mr. Saitta", "you" or "your" 15 times... Your thinking must be, if I can just discredit Alex personally, then people will not agree with what he wrote. I think most will see through that.
