Habitat ReStore Grand Opening Saturday

Pickens County Habitat for Humanity will open its first store on Saturday in Easley.

The Habitat for Humanity ReStore, located at 807 Liberty Drive, will offer a wide-selection of household goods, furniture, appliances and even some building materials.

But what it needs most is volunteers and donations, said Marty Yannarella, general manager of the store.

"We can't operate without volunteers," Yannarella said. "They help with the sorting, the pricing and the organization of the store."

The building was a Bi-Lo grocery store back in the 1960s, but Yannarella wasn't sure what had been in the space most recently. But he said the space was perfect for ReStore because it was bright and spacious.

"We will take everything except clothing and exercise equipment," Yannarella said. "We will pick up after yard sales, bigger pieces that someone can't bring into the store and of course, donations are accepted at the store."

Yannarella said that any clothing items they receive, they donate to Miracle Hill or to Goodwill, so nothing goes unused.

The store currently has a large supply of appliances, some priced as low as $75 and others that look as if they have never been used. Yannarella said that each appliance is tested before it is ever placed on the sales floor, and comes with a 30-day warranty.

In addition to appliances, here are areas designated for furniture, including antiques, home decor, books, tools, building materials and gardening items.

Yannarella said that anyone that is remodeling their home, needs to replace doors or windows or is looking for a better sofa than the one they currently have to consider shopping ReStore.

"These are good quality items that we have in the store and reasonably priced," Yannarella said.

Saturday's grand opening will feature hot dogs, the Clemson University Tiger Band will visit, the Blood Connection, Easley Fire Department's Child Safety House.

Yannarella said there will also be a booth where people can learn more about Habitat for Humanity and how to become a homeowner.

Giveaways, including some autographed merchandise, also will happen throughout the day.

Sales at ReStore will go to build house in Pickens County.
