It's "Game On" for Wheels on Meals

University of South Carolina Football Coach Steve Spurrier encourages everyone to support next week's Food Fight Bowl fundraiser for Pickens County Meals on Wheels.

Editor's note: As the sixth annual Sam Wyche Food Fight Bowl fundraiser approaches, we've been running guest editorial from figures in the sports world outlining why we all should support this fundraiser for Pickens County Meals on Wheels. Who's up this week? USC Head Football Coach Steve Spurrier!

Next Friday, August 23, at 8:00 PM, at Easley’s new football stadium.
the sixth edition of the Sam Wyche Food Fight Bowl will ignite another
layer of lasting memories. Get there early --it will be a packed house
since the game is this year’s opening day game for both teams!!
The tradition between the Blue Flame and the Green Wave is all you
have to say. “GAME ON“, boys and girls!!

Pickens County Meals on Wheels is the beneficiary of all the money
raised by students from each school in their effort to claim the Ultimate
Food Fight Trophy. When students ask you to give--Just Do It!!

With the help of Grasshopper Mowers again this year, each school will
know where they stand in the race to raise the most money to help serve a
hot meal with a warm smile to hundreds of shut-ins living all over Pickens
County. Over 400 volunteers contribute by knocking on the door of
elderly or disabled citizens--five days a week, all year long.

Please don’t wait to give! Give what you can ASAP, so the schools
will know how their competition is developing.

Personally, I hope you will financially support Meals on Wheels year
round, but you can support your team at the same time by contributing to
this year’s Sam Wyche Food Fight Bowl.

The Head Ball Coach hopes every loyal Gamecock fan will help out
give those roaring Tigers this year! Last year, Clemson fans gave almost
20% more than our Gamecock loyal. Dig deeper this year. Our
Gamecocks have too much pride to do less.

Good luck to both squads on opening day next week. Have fun at the
game and be sure to watch the most entertaining halftime in high school
football. The halftime race between the Easley and Pickens Grasshopper
Mowers will guarantee that!

Make it personal this year! Clemson is a tough opponent on the grid
iron and their fans are tough opponents when it comes to supporting Meals
on Wheels! Help us make it a “sweep” for the Gamecocks whenever we
compete against the Tigers in 2013!

Know that you are making a difference in Pickens County by
supporting Meals on Wheels. Everyone wins in this game!!
