Pickens Middle School student Mary Gamble and her art teacher Avis Fisher added the newest artwork, entitled "Richie the Ostrich" to the Superintendent’s Art Gallery on May 29, 2012.
“Mary’s artwork is a special addition to the collection,” said Dr. Henry Hunt, superintendent. “We’re proud that we can emphasize the importance of the arts by showcasing students’ work in the boardroom.”
In 2004 the School District of Pickens County opened the Superintendent’s Art Gallery in the boardroom at the Curtis A. Sidden Administration building. With the goal of assembling a permanent display of student art, a committee selects and purchases a work of art from the Pickens County Youth Arts display each year.
