Clemson Political Scientists to Field Questions About Presidential Election

Bruce Ransom and Dave Woodard to take part in roundtable discussion Thursday, Oct. 18 at Clemson University's Strom Thurmond Institute.

Two nationally known political scientists, Clemson University professors Bruce Ransom and Dave Woodard, will participate in a roundtable discussion about the presidential election Thursday, Oct. 18.

It will be at 6:30 p.m. at the Strom Thurmond Institute at Clemson. The roundtable will be streamed online and the public will be able to participate in the conversation through the Web.

The event, hosted by the College of Business and Behavioral Science’s Office of Student Enrichment, is open to the public. Clemson TV (CTV) students will webcast  the program live at http://clemsontv.net/live-stream and on its closed-circuit television station on the main campus.

Ransom and Woodard will share their insights into how issues might affect voter turnout and the outcome of the election.

“The 2012 presidential election between President Barack Obama, the incumbent and Democratic nominee, and Mitt Romney, the Republican nominee, offers voters clear choices about our country's future direction on the role of government in society and related public-policy alternatives,” Ransom said.

The public is invited to join the conversation and submit comments and questions for the professors on the college’s Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/ClemsonCBBS.   

“The opportunity for public dialogue is critical. This event will help voters make informed decisions in this year’s presidential election,” Ransom said.

Clemson graduate Traci Washington will moderate the roundtable discussion. Washington, an aspiring journalist, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in political science. She works as a public relations assistant for Clemson’s Human-Centered Computing Division in the School of Computing.
