Anderson School District One Recognized for Relay for Life
Anderson District One schools raise over $50,000 for American Cancer Society.
“Anderson District One schools were recently recognized during an administrators’ meeting for participating in Relay for Life, the main volunteer-driven cancer fundraising event of the American Cancer Society,” said Jane Harrison, Public Spokesperson.
“The schools took the challenge and the overall district results were tremendous, $53,835 funds raised. Cancer has touched many of us in one form or another, and we were encouraged by the amount of money that will be used for research to help find a cure.”
Wes Porter, Co-Chair Relay for Life of North Anderson said, "This outstanding show of support from all of our schools proves that Anderson District One stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the American Cancer Society to achieve its mission of saving lives; by helping people stay well, by helping people get well, by finding cures and fighting back."

"District One school involvement grew from 64% involvement in 2011 to 100% involvement in 2012. Fundraising totals grew from $30,953 in 2011 to 53,825 in 2012. This is an outstanding feat considering the overall goal for the 2012 Relay For Life event was $52,000. What a testament to the District One administration, staff, teachers, and students/parents. All of your dedication and hard work is sincerely appreciated by your American Cancer Society. Keep up the GREAT work and I look forward to working with you for the 2013 Relay For Life Event," said Amanda Seawell, Community Manager - American Cancer Society
