Anderson One students third in State for Mathematics, fourth in state in English Language Arts scores

High school students at Wren High, Palmetto High, and Powdersville High in Anderson District One have earned outstanding scores on the End of Course Assessment as released by the SC State Department of Education. Anderson One students were third in the state for Mathematics with 93.6% passing and fourth in the state on English Language Arts 85.8%. This far surpasses the state passing rate.

Dr. Wayne Fowler, Superintendent for the Anderson One, said, “We are very pleased with our rankings for ELA and Math on the student’s first attempt. Our schools and teachers are to be commended for their hard work and commitment to academic performance.”

Anderson One students at the high school and select students at the middle level are required to participate in the End-of-Course Examination Program (EOCEP). Math and Biology EOCEP scores increased. Teachers across the district are collaborating to strengthen curriculum and create assessments for their classroom. Students are required to take ELA, math, US History and Biology. The EOCEP is given at the conclusion of the course. The test counts as 20 percent of the student’s final grade.
