Pickens County Sheriff C. David Stone was recently recognized for his service with the S.C. Sheriff's Association.
Stone has served as the Secretary/Treasurer for the organization for over 26 years, according to a S.C. Sheriff's Association statement.
The association is composed of 46 S.C. sheriffs and a small administrative staff and works to encourage crime prevention, citizen safety legislation, and provides training to law enforcement personnel and members.
The Secretary/Treasurer is elected by the member sheriffs and is responsible for recording board and business meeting minutes, reviewing financial records, and making budget recommendations to the board, according to the statement.
"Sheriff Stone's experience and knowledge have proven to be a huge benefit to the Sheriff's Association over the years," Executive Director Jeffrey B. Moore said. "The people of Pickens County should be very proud to have such a stalwart leader in law enforcement."
Moore presented Stone with an award for his service during the 2012 SCSA Winter Conference on January 26 in Columbia.
