Council members voted first to approve the city zoning designation of General/Commercial. No residents were in attendance to raise questions about the designation.

"These are just two pieces of property that Honda is trying to get inside the city," Mayor Larry Bagwell said.

"The city is doing what we think is legal to get them inside the city," Bagwell said.

Council members voted unanimously to pass the first reading of the annexation. The second reading will be given at next month's meeting at 7 p.m. on Sept. 12 at the Easley Law Enforcement Center.
