York Woman Drowns While Tubing in Easley

A York woman died Saturday afternoon while tubing in Easley.

Heather Dobbins, 37, of 1462 South Pratian Road, York, drowned while tubing with three other people, Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley said.

Kelley told the Greenville News (Subscription may be required) the group was on the Saluda River near Old Easley Highway.  

Dobbins was transported to Greenville Hospital System, where she was pronounced dead, Kelley said.

An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow, Kelley said.

It was unclear at this writing whether the drowning would be investigated by the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office or the Department of Natural Resources.
