One Dead in Fatal Pickens County Crash

The wreck happened about 1:10 a.m. Sunday on Cherokee Trail in Pickens County

A man is dead after a single-vehicle collision in Pickens County Sunday.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a man driving a 2006 Toyota pickup truck was killed after he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree.

The accident happened around 1:10 a.m. as the driver was traveling north on Cherokee Trail just four miles north of Easley. Troopers said the driver ran off the right side of the road, traveled back across the roadway and then lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt, troopers said. The driver's name has not been released by the Pickens County Coroner's Office.
