Officials have confirmed the death of 23-year-old Brian Keith Askew was a suicide.

Officials have determined that a former Clemson student from Summerville took his own life.

Bryan Keith Askew, 23, had been missing for over two weeks before he was found dead in the woods two weeks ago in Central, police said. Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley confirmed today that Askew's death was a suicide.

Askew had been staying with a friend at Summit Apartments in Central for a few days until he found housing at Clemson. His roommate said plans changed when Askew found out he would no longer be receiving his financial aid and he intended to return home, according to police.

Days after his roommate thought Askew had left he found his keys and wallet. On Sept. 12 he called the police and reported him missing. Central Police then issued a missing person report.
