No One Hurt in Structure Fire Friday

W. King Street fire still under investigation.

No injuries were reported after a structure fire on W. King Street Friday morning

On Friday September 13, 2013 at 8:33am, the Easley Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire at 505 W. King St. in the Easley Fire District, according to Fire Fighter Mike Whitmire.

Upon arrival the first units reported heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure. The fire department used two engine companies, off duty and volunteer personnel to bring the fire under control.

The building was being used for storage and there were no smoke detectors present or extinguishing system.

After extinguishment, there was extensive time required for salvage and overhaul. There were no injuries to any fire department personnel or others as a result of the fire.

Other agencies responding to the fire were Duke Energy, DHEC, SC Forestry and the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
