Escaped Pickens County Inmate Back in Custody

Escapee arrested Monday night in Easley

A county inmate who stole a truck from a recycling center over the weekend is back in custody.

Joshua Sanchez, 26, of 1 Bryant Street, Greenville, was arrested Monday night in Easley, according to Assistant Sheriff Tim Morgan.

Sanchez had been part of a work detail at a recycling center on Chastian Road when he stole a truck from someone who had come to dispose of some trash at the center, Morgan said.

No one was injured in Sanchez's escape.

The truck was recovered in a motel parking lot about two hours after Sanchez stole it.

Pickens County Sheriff's Deputies conducted a traffic stop yesterday with the assistance of the Easley Police Department and arrested Sanchez on Northeast Main Street in Easley, Morgan said.

Sanchez is now facing additional charges. The Pickens County Sheriff's Office has charged him with auto theft, Morgan said.

“The county prison has signed warrants on him for escape,” he said.
