Obituary: Elzaria Hanna Jarrett

Easley

Elzaria Hanna Jarrett, 75, of Easley, wife of the late Boyce Lee Jarrett with whom she had a beloved fifty one year marriage, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Baptist Easley Hospital.

Born Dec. 27, 1937 in Woodruff, she was a daughter of the late William "Downs" and Ruth Burgess Hanna. Mrs. Jarrett was a graduate of Cecil's Business College in Spartanburg. Her work history included secretary/receptionist to Dr. Gilliland and Dr. Guy Blakely in Woodruff; customer service manager and sales for Rhodes Furniture in Greenville and retired before her 70th birthday as secretary to the Pickens County Public Defender. Throughout her life she served her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through her dedicated and faithful church work. As a young lady growing up in Mills Mill Baptist Church, she loved the youth and choral activities. When her husband transferred with his job to Anderson, she was a member of Eureka Baptist Church serving as WMU President, choir member and other various positions. Finally, after the transfer of her husband to Greenville, she joined Crosswell First Baptist Church. Here she served in many areas over the years. Some of which included Sunday School teacher, WMU leader, choir member and director at one point. She was also established the monthly Crosswell Prayer Group which has grown over the years. Mrs. Jarrett loved her Lord and her family and served them faithfully all her life.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Jarrett Cantrell (Jack) of Liberty; son, Gregory Shea Jarrett of Easley; grandchildren, Kela Cantrell Simpson (Chad), Adam Chase Cantrell (Amanda), and Hunter Shea Jarrett; great-grandchildren, Kadence Brae Simpson and Sylas Claire Cantrell.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Crosswell First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens in Woodruff.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service at the church.

Honorary escorts will be the Crosswell Prayer Group.

The family is at the home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Crosswell First Baptist Church Building Fund, 219 Fishtrap Road, Greenville, SC 29611.
