Mauldin Joseph "MJ" Owen, 84, of 8104 Liberty Highway, husband of Pauline Stewart Owen, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2013 at AnMed Health.
Born September 9, 1928 in Cateechee, he was a son of the late Bill and Mattie Davis Owen. Mr. Owen graduated from Liberty High School and attended Brevard Junior College and Anderson College. He was the former Mayor of Norris and served in the US Navy during WWII. Mr. Owen was a retired manager with Mohasco Rug Mill and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1956.
In addition to his wife of fifty-six years, he is survived by his brother, Jerry Dean Owen.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Jean Owen Olson and brother, Jimmy Wayne Owen.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 18, 2013 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road with Rev. Jack Turpin and Rev. Larry Wilson officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Reflection Mausoleum at Robinson Memorial Gardens with military honors.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
