5 things you need to know about Easley on Sept. 6, 2011

Good morning Easley, today is Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011 and there are 116 days left in the year. 

According to the National Weather Service, expect showers and possibly a thunderstorm this morning and into the afternoon. The temperature will reach a high of 78 degrees.

Today is the first day of school for the School District of Pickens County. After an extended summer break, it's back to work for Easley students. School starts at 8 a.m. for High School and Middle School students and 8:30 a.m. for Elementary students.

Parents who have children who aren't starting school just yet should swing by Hampton Library this morning for Preschool Storytime. Join other parents and children for stories, songs, and flannel board stories every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Hampton Memorial Library in Easley.

Congressman Jeff Duncan is holding the last of several speaking events in the 3rd Congressional District today. Over the past two weeks the freshman congressman has been listening to constituents and speaking about job creation and the U.S. debt crisis. Today, he will speak at the Easley Rotary Club meeting at West End Hall at 12:30 p.m.
