Thursday

1. Influential conservatives in South Carolina, New Hampshire and Iowa described Gov. Rick Perry as a George Bush-like leader who can beat President Obama in the latest Huffington Post/ Patch poll. Read more.

2. If teardrops were tweets, then there have been hundreds sent out for @treypennington. Dozens of friends of the Greenville businessman and social media guru gathered Wednesday night at Falls Park to pay tribute to their friend. More on the vigil.

3. Easley High School Student Council sponsored a free concert at Old Market Square to benefit Pickens County Meals on Wheels during the Sam Wyche Food Fight Bowl. Read more.

4. Coming off a debate performance that some analysts found to be impressive, today former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman received a blow to his prospect of winning the South Carolina primary. Gov. Nikki Haley told a conservative radio host that Huntsman is not someone “philosophically I agree with.” Here's the story.

Friday

1. Two Republican candidates for president made their way to Greenville on Friday to take their message to tea party supporters. Herman Cain, former chairman and CEO of Godfather's Pizza, and former Louisiana Gov. Buddy Roemer joined Gov. Nikki Haley and activists with the Tea Party Express at Magnolia Park on Woodruff Road in Greenville for the first of two planned rallies in the Palmetto State on Friday. Read more.

3. A dream 10 years in the making has finally become a reality for two Easley women. Anna DeVault and Amanda Gunter have talked on and off for the last 10 years about opening a facility that was dedicated to fine arts. The two ladies both have taught classes in schools and in the community, but found themselves discussing the possibilities once again, after a change in teaching careers. Read more about it.
