Is Anyone Surprised We Got Hacked When Our Governor Has Been MIA For Months?

Haley has been a little busy with other men lately...

I love how comments on some pages are already trying to blame this SC state security breach on the Obama Administration.  Jeez, folks.  He's not Satan.  He can't be everywhere at once.  If he's busy hiding his college transcripts, finding another minion to claim they were present at the birth in Hawaii that was really in Kenya, and trying to run the Illuminati while coordinating with his Muslim brotherhood in the Middle East, I just don't see how he has time to reach out and remove all of the security from our state computer systems.

There is, however, one person in charge who HAS been MIA these past few months.  And as I've explained before, while I don't believe that Governor Haley as captain of the ship is personally responsible for my information falling into the hands of foreign hackers, I do believe that the fact that she was essentially completely MIA during July, August and September, out on the campaign trail for Mitt Romney (in my opinion, in hopes of a cabinet position) or on one of her many "business" trips with her family overseas, may have played a part.

Anyone knows that when the boss is away, the mice will play.  According to one report I read recently, Ms. Haley spent less than ten days in her office in July...the rest was spent out on the campaign trail for Mitt Romney and other Republicans.  I haven't seen the numbers for August and September but having seen her all over the national news in other states shilling for Mittens...I figure she hasn't had much reason to make August or September any different...after all, Republicans have such a stranglehold on this state, who's going to call her out?

I do take personal umbrage to her reference to this "hacker" (more likely a group) as "him".  I'm pretty damn smart.  I have a degree in Computer Science. If I wanted to be a hacker, I probably could be.  Unless they know exactly who the individual is that hacked into our system, Ms. Haley might ought to watch who she threatens to kick and slam into a wall, because it might be a girl that fights back.  Stilleto heels at ten yards, Governor? <lol>

In addition, when Ms. Haley took office she wanted to show off to her teabagger friends just how kick-ass she really was, so she took to "touring" state offices, then going into conference rooms and arbitrarily firing people...how do I know this?  Because I was sitting in the Libery One Stop Job Service location back when getting a seat in that place was harder than getting front-row tickets to a good concert - standing room only in other words - and noticed that the employees there suddenly got very agitated, whispering to each other, running around with worried expressions on their faces, etc. I asked my caseworker when I got in to see her what was going on, and she told me that Ms. Haley had just finished touring a One Stop down in the Columbia area, and at the end of her tour she went in and told them to lay off five people IN THAT OFFICE - which I have to believe was every bit as crowded as ours.  Not certain individuals, mind you, that weren't doing their job...just five warm bodies.  She then instructed the state to cut jobs at ALL the One Stop offices.  At a time when our unemployment numbers were (and still are, don't be fooled) skyrocketing in SC, she just casually tells our state to add five+ more to the roll, people who are trained to help other people find a job!  Why?  Because she can then go back and make a speech and brag that she cut waste from the budget.  I would be interested in knowing if one of her little tours included the office charged with the security of our private information as South Carolina citizens, and if anyone there was let go at her instruction "for budgetary reasons"?

You can't blame any of this on President Obama or the Democrats.  Democrats haven't had any power in this state in decades, not really.  And we certainly haven't had any power during the last two administrations.  We have watched our jobs leave and go overseas, our military bases close and military contractors leave the state, our children drop further and further behind in education, our teen pregnancy and STD rates rise while our incomes lower, our Governor enact and sign legislation which will only depress wages in South Carolina even more...and when we look around...we find Lindsey Graham out on the campaign trail for this candidate or that candidate, but is rarely seen in his home district in the last 4 years (in case you've forgotten, 4 years ago when he was re-elected, he couldn't be bothered to come home for his celebration party, he was in Arizona with John McCain, with whom he had spent the entire election on the road), our Governor out on the campaign trail with Mitt and his entourage, Jim DeMint - well, as crazy as Jim is, it appears that he and Mr. Jim Clyburn may be our only major politicians that are actually doing their job.

I have been using the hashtag on twitter #doyourjob for months now in reference to our Governor.  She's spent way too much time having a little party at our expense, and not enough helping the people of South Carolina, just like our former Governor, Mark Sanford.  And just like Sanford, she prefers to be out jetting around the country and the world to staying home and doing the job she was elected to do.

Looking at a list of the South Carolina Governors, in reality since Dick Riley there hasn't been much to brag about.  Carroll Campbell took credit for a lot of beneficial programs and projects that Governor Riley worked very hard to bring to South Carolina, and Sanford continued to credit Campbell and Beasley as well for many of these same projects that he knew had been planned and implemented under Dick Riley's administration.  But since then, Campbell, Beasley, Sanford and now Haley, along with a Republican-controlled state house, have consistently lowered revenue to the state by changing tax laws to favor the rich over the poor, then slashing budgets on programs that benefit the poor.  The short term that Governor Hodges had in office (one of our most prosperous in recent history according to numbers on the state's own website) wasn't enough to reverse the damage and as he was replaced with Sanford, the slide continued.

People have got to stop voting for the name just because it's the same name you've always voted for, with the same letter in front of it because that's what your daddy did.  You've got to start doing your research, not just listening to the evening news on your favorite propaganda station or trusting a blogger because they think the same way you do.  Actually look at a politician's record!  If they don't have one, look at what they've done in their life.  LOOK AT THE MESS OUR STATE IS IN, FOR GOODNESS SAKES!  Stop the madness!  Stop re-electing the same good old boys that have been putting your hard-earned money in their pockets for decades!  Bill Sandifer passed a tax on your cell phone!  Make him accountable!  Jeff Duncan introduced that tax in the State House!  Make him accountable!  Nikki Haley introduced the bill in the State House that caused our entire election mess (knocking many candidates off the ballot), and was MIA while our information was being stolen from her office!  Make her accountable when she's up for re-election!  Elect some progressives that will bring new ideas to our state, ideas that can help pull us out of this mire and make us first in the nation in all things, rather than last.  And demand of our elected officials in office that they work for US, not other campaigns or special interest.  Because YOU and I pay them to do a job for us, and when they don't, like Ms. Haley has not, we lose.
