Clements receives music scholarship

Dawson Clements signed a letter of intent to attend Southern Wesleyan University’s Department of Music, where he will enroll in the fall of 2014.

Dawson will participate in the choral ensembles as he prepares to earn his music degree at SWU, a National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) accredited institution. Dawson brings a wide variety of musical experiences, which include singing in the Hamburg High School Concert Chorale, and has performed with the chorale at Carnegie Hall. He has also sung in various worship teams at his church, and participated in a Ska band, for which he has written and recorded a number of original songs. Dawson is a third-generation Wesleyan and attends the Hamburg Wesleyan Church in Hamburg, N.Y., where his father is the executive pastor.

The music scholarship is renewable and open to students who are active in their school’s music programs and Southern Wesleyan students involved in each of the university’s three performing groups.
