Today, July 23, 2012, the very first Pickens County Petition Candidate was officially certified, and will be on the General Election ballot in November.  Stan Whitten will be running for Pickens County Sheriff.  Congratulations are in order, as this is historic in Pickens County.  Stan is the first of a record number of candidates who will be on the ballot because they were able to obtain signatures of the necessary 5% of active registered voters in the district as required by law.
