Wilson Expected to Enter Guilty Plea
Former Anderson County councilman and owner of Easley-based Atlantic Bullion & Coin, Ron Wilson is accused of operating a Ponzi scheme and defrauding nearly 1,000 people from 25 states out of at least $59 million.
Investors of Ron Wilson's silver business received a letter from the U.S. Department of Justice indicating the Easley businessman would enter a guilty plea at a May hearing, according to the Anderson Independent-Mail.
Wilson, a former Anderson County Council member, is accused of running his Atlantic Bullion & Coin as a Ponzi scheme and defrauding nearly 1,000 people from 25 states out of at least $59 million. The plea would relate to federal charges of fraud and mail fraud that he faces.
The hearing is scheduled for May 15.
