Walkers Wanted for Annual March for Babies
The walk begins at 9 a.m. at Easley High School
Hundreds of walkers are expected to be at Easley High's football stadium on Saturday.
They won't be cheering for the Green Wave, but instead for healthier babies.
Pickens County's Annual March for Babies will begin at 9 a.m.
Following the six-mile walk, participants will enjoy food and family activities.
Individuals and teams who achieved top fundraising honors will be recognized.
The Hendricks family will serve as the county's ambassadors. Allie and Sam Hendricks were born at 36 weeks gestation. Sam went to the newborn nursery that afternoon for 10 days because of temperature regulation issues, but Allie was admitted to the NICU.
Allie spent 23 days in the NICU for jaundice, hypoglycemia, and lack of suck-swallow reflexes and returned multiple times for additional surgeries.
The twins’ parents, Ryan and April Hawkins, are grateful to the March of Dimes for funding research that helped discover lifesaving treatments for babies like Sam and Allie.
