Roof Collapses During Fire at Former Brunswick Yarn

Fire crews are expected to spend most of Wednesday cleaning up at the site.

A fire at an Upstate mill overnight has kept fire crews in Pickens busy.

According to WYFF, the fire started just after 9 p.m. at the old Brunswick Yarn mill on City View Circle near Highway 178 in Pickens.

A passerby called 911 after seeing smoke coming from the building, which has been vacant for a number of years.

The roof collapsed during the fire, forcing firefighters to attack the fire from the outside. Fire officials will be at the scene most of Wednesday trying to clean up the area and to determine a cause of the fire. Drivers are asked to avoid area.
