Readers' Choice: Best Place to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day
Patch is looking for the best place in Easley to paint the town green
Top of the morning to you, Easley!
Don a bit o' green and tell us the best place in Easley and in the Upstate to do an Irish jig.
That's right, in this week's Readers' Choice contest, Easley Patch wants to know where a lass and laddie can celebrate St. Patrick's Day.
St. Patrick's Day, named for the patron Saint Patrick who is said to have brought Christianity to Ireland, for larger cities like Savannah, Chicago and New Orleans, is a time to host wild parities and parades.
Some celebrate by dressing in green clothing, eating foods dyed green and drinking green beer.
But keep in mind the wearing of green is not actually an Irish custom, according to History.com. The wearing of green started in the United States, as the color green is actually unlucky in Ireland.
The great thing about St. Patrick's Day is that you don't have to be Irish to celebrate.
Who serves up corned beef and cabbage? Is there a place to listen to Irish music or to learn an Irish dance? Where can you buy a pint of green beer?
We included our favorites here:
Shamrock the House — 7 p.m. Saturday at Easley Tri-County Technical College
St. Patty's Day 5K in downtown Greenville
St. Patrick's Day Walk in Greenville on Thursday
Connelly's Irish Pub in Greenville
Jadens' Pints and Wings in Simpsonville
The Starving Artist Cafe in Easley
So what are you waiting for? Get your shamrock shaking, it's time to vote!
Tell us which one is your favorite in the poll below. HOWEVER, if there are other Irish celebrations you believe belong on the list, let us know in the comments section below and we’ll add them right away.
Voting in the poll below is open until 9 a.m. Friday. Ties will be broken by whichever business has the most positive comments in the section below. We will announce the winner at noon Friday.
Note: Because this poll is not scientific, it is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by the Patch editor, based on poll results, comments below and reviews on Patch Places. Please vote only once per survey, per Patch.

Shouldn't the Easley Patch just list places in Easley? =)

John, We would love to list just Easley places! That is one of the reasons that we ask people to tell us in the comments section what places to add. We listed the businesses that we knew were having events based on their Facebook posts, items in events calendars, signage, or advertised through radio/television. We are always willing to add more!

Now you just got me all befuddled... I love both Bleu Voodoo and Rivals! They support local live music, just like the Starving Artist Cafe does, but Rivals and Bleu Voodoo are still my favorites. They both get my vote.

John, Sorry to make your decision that much harder! I know that each of these businesses and/or events is very worthy of your vote! We appreciate your participation! This biggest reason Patch started a Readers' Choice contest is to find out more about our readers and what they like! We hope you will play along with us each week as a new "Readers' Choice" topic is announced.

Without a doubt the Starving Artist! The food, which normally has a more Italian theme, has transformed to accommodate the upcoming St. Patty's Day celebration! But the food isn't the only thing, the decorations are superb! The Starving Artist is the place to be, especially for the beer tasting!!
