Haley to Huntsman: Thanks, But No Thanks

SC gov. and former Utah gov. not on the same page "philosophically"

Coming off a debate performance that some analysts found to be impressive, today former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman received a blow to his prospect of winning the South Carolina primary. Gov. Nikki Haley told a conservative radio host that Huntsman is not someone “philosophically I agree with.”

The CNN political ticker explains the ramifications here.

Haley is thought to be South Carolina’s second most-prized endorser after Jim DeMint. Haley has promised to endorse prior to the primary in February, although the impact of her endorsement may be somewhat diminished as her own popularity was flagging in a recent poll.

Gov. Haley should not be so quick to dismiss the former Utah governor. Perhaps she should meet with Gov. Huntsman like she did with Gov. Perry and others. She might find that after actually talking to him, he might have something to offer.

Nimrata Haley is simply protecting her house guess the dunderhead Bachman. John Huntsman is too smart for Nimrata. She finds it mush easier to communicate with Bachman they both sniff the same insanity air.

I am always intrigued by folks who insist on ignoring the name folks use and insist on using a person's full name. I am curious to know why folks do that.

As to your comments, actually Gov. Haley has publicly mentioned her view that Gov. Perry might be the person to beat President Obama. She has come the close to endorsing him.

I'm not certain what basis you are using to determine her intelligence level.

It doens't take much to intrigued someone like you now does it. Use her folks use whatever name we are associated with a person. You see people have nick names that only some are aware of and then they have perfessional names that the nick name callers wouldn't know. How shallow of you to inquire about such nonsense. Does the fact that Nimrata is a name you find derogatory and feel like you have to protect someone of their god given name?? Well I can answer the next parts of your comment with one answer the fact that she endorses such and extremist idiot is only more proof of her lack of intelligence, not to mention she has not accomplish one thing in her life time to benefit anyone other than herself weather it be as governor or not. Just getting elected in a fruadulent system doesn't show intelligence quite the contrary. People such as yourself that are willing to buy into anything that is said without the ability to research and make a intelligent decission based on facts is a problem in itself.

Huntsman is the only candidate in this republican circus that could actually be benifical to ALLLLLLLLLL parties not just the mushroom tea drinkers (which represent about 2% of the country)

And what has Huntsman done in his lifetime legistration that would make you come to such a conclusion??? What exactly is a social liberal anyway?

Really? What do you base that on? It appears the folks who actually proudly call themselves liberal disagree.

Wait, his position on evolution might be considered a social issue, but wouldn't Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid fiscal issues?

Also, from what I understand about Gov. Huntsman, he wants to reform Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, not something liberals would even consider. Also, many Republicans want reform, not elimination. Rep.Paul Ryan, not someone considered a liberal did not call for the elimination of these programs, but rather a reform. Is he a liberal in your book as well?

How does he want to reform them? Paul Ryan is a hypocrite, I cannot stand RINO'S

Are you actually calling Rep. Paul Ryan a RINO? How is Rep. Ryan a hyporcrite? The Tea Party and many conservative groups hailed his budget plan, which included reforms to Medicare and Medicaid as brilliant and agreed with it.

Please don't be so naive, anyone can and does format a plan, a bill, he is a hypocrite because he has taken money to get reelected by businesses that he then tries to pass bills that favor them, we need real reform we need a class action lawsuit by Americans that reforms pay to play!

I find it amusing that people insist on calling medicare and social security social programs. Do they not realize that people pay into those programs every pay check??? Do they not realize that social security is not even part of the congressional budget. Social Security and Medicare problems are fraud not the people that have paid into it using them. What difference does collecting Social Security when you retire from collecting your 401k??? You people are really listening to too much hype and not using your brain to figure out the obvious intent of the Republican Party. You see they have no more cash cows to gift to the wealthy to play the market game with so they are drooling over the trillions of dollars in Social Security if they could just get their hands on that would be a windfall of profits for wall street. Medicare was doing just fine until the Republican found a ponzi scheme to hand to the Pharmacutical and Health Industries by creating Medicare Part D, What did that do for our seniors NOTHING but it did however allow Pharma to raise the prices of prescrition to whatever they wanted to because after all american by law can't buy their prescription on the market like from Canada because the Republican made sure you have no freedom and must buy from them. You have a choice in 2012 support the corporate take over by electing a Republican, support the working class by electing a Democrat. It is simple really.

Let's see, during his 4 years in office the budget went up 13%! Very conservative! I am not sure why businessmen who are friendly to multibillion dollar corporations are always considered conservative? He like the idea of universal health care. He supports the concept of global warming. That's enough for me!

Joe your comments about Huntsman only prove my point that he is FISCALLY conservative enough for moderate Republicans and right leaning Independents he might even get some moderate Democrats to vote for him because he is very intelligent. My comments about Huntsman is that he is the only Republican running in their current circus that could be competive in a general election. Not that I would vote for any Republican. Just saying

Joe

Oh now I get you, your one of those people who vote D no matter if Hitler was on the ticket. You know what? I am tired of centrists that have led this country to the brink of disaster, I want someone with the BALLS to tackle the tough issue and stop answering you dumb liberals questions on evolution, abortion and gun control.

No you would be wrong about that Joe. I have voted many times in my life for Republicans and I can even say that there are a few current Republicans that I would vote for. The problem being is in this time there is not a Republican I could vote for. I find their present stance of protecting Corporations, war and nation building on the backs of America's poor and elders and not asking the people who can afford it the most and benefit the most to help the country INSANITY. I also find that the Republican party has gone tooooooo far right for my liking. I am fiscally conservative, but I find the social agenda extreme. You see it isn't as simple as one way or the other there are facts that make a person come to that conclusion.

And just who do you think Huntsman stands for, all he did in Utah was cut corporate taxes. Mitch Daniels of Indiana is a great Governor. He instituted HSA'S for all public employees saving the state 30 million dollars! He is a compassionate but smart

Huntsman should be happy about this. Governor Haley is a lying know good so and so. We already had eight years of this, why put up with this mess again. While people are struggling to make ends meat in this state, she is on here European vacation, calling it business. Sounds a little familiar? This lady has been lying to the citizens of South Carolina from the beginning and now she continues doing it over and over again. The citizens of this state deserve better. We don't need a "Hollywood" or jet setting governor, we need someone who is going to do the right things for the state. We don't need a governor who is writing a book, when she has only been in office less than a year. She needs to realize that this is not about her, it is about the people of South Carolina. We deserve better!

Mr. Davis, I do not agree with Gov. Haley on all her positions and I did not vote for her, but she is lying. The trip to Paris and Munich was not a family vacation, but a work trip working on bringing new jobs here and keep those here here. Her record on marketing SC to lure jobs here is great. Disagree with her on specific items, but keep it honest.

Sir, this was a family vacation. Meeting with businessmen was just thrown in there too make it look like a business trip. This woman has know problem with lying. She does it all day long. Spending either $429 or $650 for a hotel room is ridiculous. I use to work for the federal government and there always tell you to look for the cheapest hotel. I will try and give her the benefit of doubt, but reading about her, she probably could have found something cheaper. The people of this state elected a "Hollywood Governor," who has to have the finer things in life. I guess a 3 or 4 star hotels is not good for her. I guess she is a fiscal conservative when it suits her needs.

Thank you Mimi for reminding me how important it is to admit that I am a proud TEA PARTY member. You being Obama support, you obviously have no idea what they are all about! Taxed Enough Already!!! I know you think that the rich are evil and the poor deserve everything and you are entitled to that view. Oh, there is a word you should appreciate "entitled". Vote Democrat to "support the working class", you have got to be kidding. The working class you must be refering to is the working for a welfare check. How can I "work" the system??? That is your working class. At least corporate America supplies jobs and pays lots of taxes. If you want to jump on corporate, why dont you ask the obamanation of a president why a HUGE CORPORATION like GE doesnt not pay any taxes?? Hmmm look at the connections.

I'm not Mimi, but I will take a stab at answering your post. Let's start with the "connections" you hint at. You realize that it is Congress and not the President that sets tax law? The way that GE was able to avoid paying no taxes was by taking advantage of tax loopholes and incentives and breaks, etc that Congress put into the tax code over the last few decades. Also, GE was not alone in paying nothing, there were a number of corporations that paid nothing. In addition to those paying nothing, a vast majority paid far below the 35% rate that the tax code states they are supposed to, according to the Government Accounting Office. The 5 top Oil companies made $74 billion in profits in the first 2 quarters of 2011, which is fantastic for them. They also received billions of tax payer dollars through tax subsidies and according to their own financial statements spent the overwhelming majority of those profits not on creating more jobs, but on buying back their own stocks. Now, I think it is great that they made that much money and they are free to spend it anyway they like, but I wonder if they still need you and I subsidizing them?

The "Taxed Enough Already" logo is a great logo, unfortunately, the facts show a different reality than what most folks think. According to a recent study, Americans today pay the propotion of their income in taxes as we did in 1958. The last 3 President, and yes, that does include President Obama have lowered tax rates, added tax incentives or changed the tax code in some way that has reduced the tax burden

Just maybe the governor would appear more credible if she explained what philosophical differences she has with governor Huntsman. While I voted for governor Haley, she is now acting like most politiicans with her arrogant, less than transparent attitude. If I don't agree with someone, I must present cogent facts before I can convince anyone else.
