Gov. Haley Places Friendly Wager on Clemson-Fla. State Game
Gov. Nikki Haley has put a barbecue dinner on the line in a wager with Gov. Rick Scott of Florida who has offered up a key lime pie.
Tigers or Seminoles?
Gov. Nikki Haley is expecting to be slicing up a delicious key lime pie after Clemson University defeats Florida State University Saturday.
If not, Haley will be serving up a plate of South Carolina's finest barbecue for Gov. Rick Scott of Florida.
It's a friend wager between the two southern governors, as two of the best football teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference play at 8 p.m. in Tallahassee.
“With college football season in full swing and two South Carolina teams ranked in the top 10, it was great to hear from my friend and fellow college football fan Gov. Rick Scott,” Haley said. “When he called and started talking smack about the Clemson-Florida State game, I told him I had confidence in Coach Dabo Swinney and the Tigers, who represent our state well and make us proud, and I was happy to place a friendly wager on the game.”
Gov. Scott still thinks the Seminoles are the team to beat.
“Our high schools, universities and NFL teams have proven time and time again that Florida is the number one state for football, and there is no doubt the Noles will win this weekend,” Scott said. “I really appreciate Gov. Haley taking part in this wager and look forward to enjoying some BBQ from her great state.”
