In their opening game of the Big League World Series last week, South Carolina District 1 was blanked by a dominant pitching and defensive performance by Indiana, but there would be none of that Tuesday night, as South Carolina punched its ticket to the series championship.
In the last game of U.S. play, South Carolina made an early statement, jumping on the Central region's Indiana team by a score of 6-0 through four innings, and holding on to win 6-2 and advance to the championship game against Puerto Rico.
Trey Hayes got the complete game win for South Carolina.
With the victory, South Carolina now plays undefeated Puerto Rico for the World Championship at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the J.B. "Red" Owens Recreation Complex in Easley.
The game will be broadcast by ESPN and online at ESPN3.com.
Tickets can be purchased at the gate. Prices: Adults $5, Students $3, and children under 5 are admitted free.
