CORRECTION: Saturday, Aug. 25, 11:24 p.m.
According to Mauldin Police Chief Bryan Turner, Fincher was arrested on Thursday by the Mauldin Police Department, not the Greenville County Sheriff's Office as originally reported.
Turner could not comment any further on Fincher's arrest as an investigation is ongoing.
William Greg Fincher, the director of Public Works for the City of Mauldin was arrested Thursday by the Greenville County Sheriff's Office and charged with kidnapping.
According to WSPA, Fincher, 51, of Saco Lowell Road in Easley, has been placed on administrative leave with pay. He is incarcerated at the Greenville County Detention Center in lieu of $30,000 bond.
It is not Fincher's first brush with the law. According to court records, he was charged with leaving the scene of an auto accident in May 2011 in Horry County. Those charges were dropped in December 2011. In that case, Fincher was represented by Mauldin's city attorney John Duggan.
