Easley Farmers Market to Open in March
The market will have some new additions to entice the local-minded shopper.
It's almost spring, which means it's almost time for fresh, locally grown produce at the Easley Farmers Market.
The market will be open for business starting March 24 from 9 a.m. until noon in conjunction with the Easely Spring Fling, a downtown festival featuring local food, arts and crafts. The market sets up shop every Saturday in the Easley City Hall parking lot.
Easley Farmers Market Manager Lisa Garrett is excited for the upcoming market season and said this year there will be several new additions to entice locally-minded shoppers.
Garrett said the market will open up space on the first Saturday of each month for local artists to set up shop and sell their wares. Market spaces rent for $5.
"We still want the market geared towards farmers and growers," Garrett said. But she'd like to see more artisans have some local exposure as well.
Garrett also hopes to attract some new local growers offering organic produce and has already confirmed the addition of Gibson Farms, a Westminister producer of local USDA Certified beef.
On March 31 the market will be open 9 a.m. until noon. After the Spring Fling, Garrett said the market will return to the normal operating hours of 8 a.m. until noon starting April 7.
