Drive Edge Augusta With Late Rally

Timely hitting keys win.

The Greenville Drive did not have a lot of offensive production on Saturday night at Fluor Field, but they made it count in a 4-3 win over Augusta.

Henry Ramos' double in the bottom of the eighth inning sent home Blake Swihart and Lucas LeBlanc and completed a comeback from an early 3-0 deficit. It was Ramos' second double of the game, among only five hits on the night for Greenville, which improved to 7-10 in 2012.

Justin Erasmus came on to pitch the ninth and retired the GreenJackets in order to seal the win and snap a two-game losing streak. Erasmus picked up his second save of the year for his efforts while Matty Ott pitched three scoreless innings in relief to earn his second win. Starter Luis Diaz allowed all three runs in the first inning, but then settled down to allow only one hit in the subsequent four frames.

Prior to the game, players from the Mauldin Miracle League had a chance to be on the field with Drive players. Photos from their visit can be found on The Drive's Eric Jarinko's Twitter feed.

On Sunday, the Drive close out their four-game series with Augusta with a 4:05 start. Fans will have the opportunity to get a free health screening, including blood pressure, weight, body mass index, waist size and body fat percentage courtesy of Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
