Clemson's Football Entrance Called Best In Nation

Clemson's entrance has long been considered by many as one of the top spectacles in college sports. One writer for Yahoo.com said he thinks it's the best in college football.

To many rabid college football fans in the Upstate, Clemson's entrance - taking a bus-ride from the locker rooms to the top of a steep bank at the stadium's east side before rubbing Howard's Rock and galloping down the hill onto the field - is as good as it gets in college athletics.

KW Rosenfeld of Yahoo.com share those sentiments. In his story, College Football's Top 25 Entrances, Rosenfeld ranks Clemson's entrance into Death Valley as the top in all of college football.

"There's nothing elaborate here, but it has all the elements of a great entrance. Anticipation builds as the Tigers mass in a tunnel at the top of a hill above one of the endzones. When finally given the go-ahead, the players each touch Howard's Rock -- symbolic of giving maximum effort -- then sprint down the hill to the field flanked by crazed fans, while the marching band blasts 'Tiger Rag.' It's referred to as 'The Most Exciting 25 Seconds in College Football,' and it might just deserve that description."

Of course, Rosenfeld doesn't get it all right. There is no actual tunnel at the top of the hill at Memorial Stadium - the players simply hop out of the buses and enter underneath the scoreboard to the famous hill.

Still, Rosenfeld's feelings on the famous entrance is shared by many. He also holds the entrance of another Palmetto State school in high regard, ranking South Carolina's as No. 14.

So what do you think? Is Clemson's entrance the best in college football? Let us know in the comments section.

I'm sure it is exciting to many fans. But come on South Carolina at No. 14. 2001 blasting, the anticapation of Cocky appearing from an empty stand, the team gathering, and then amid smoke bursting onto the field to the cheers of 70 to 80 thousand fans. Nothing finer and I've to both.

True there is no better! Come on a mascot named "cocky"! We also use our own band to usher the team in with the Song That Shakes The Southland "TIGER RAG". It doesn't get any better!

Clemson Football team running down the hill is the greatest entrance in college football. Furman has the 7th greatest and South Carolina has the 19th.
I have attended games at all three stadiums
