Cain Passes on the Upstate
Surging candidate appeared on Sunday talk shows and in Rock Hill
Herman Cain supporters waiting for a visit by the candidate to the Upstate will have to wait a little longer.
Why they'll have to wait remains a bit of a question.
Cain was scheduled to visit a Barnes and Noble in Spartanburg at 3 p.m. Sunday for a book-signing and campaign stop. However, a sign at the entrance indicated that the visit had been canceled due to a family emergency. Earlier in the day, Cain appeared on two talk shows (This Week and Fox News Sunday) and had a book-signing and campaign stop in Rock Hill.
Patch has learned however, that supporters were told on Saturday evening that the event in Spartanburg was cancelled on Saturday with no mention of an emergency from organizers. Employees contacted late Sunday at Barnes and Noble said they had no knowledge of the circumstances of the cancellation.
A week ago, Cain was scheduled to appear in Greenville and Spartanburg, and then just Greenville, and then just Spartanburg.
Cain has seen his stock rise in recent works among GOP faithful. Recent polls show him at or near the top of field after spending much of the summer among the ranks of the second-tier candidates.
