Doug Norwine, seen in the center of the photo, runs through a jazz number with his ensemble during Jazz Camp, a high energy fast-paced week full of music at Southern Wesleyan University.
Norwine, who is currently on the faculty of Anderson University and is married to SWU alumna Kelley Marcus Norwine, has performed on tour with Frank Sinatra, Pat Boone, Chaka Khan, Melissa Manchester and Ray Charles, but is known best for providing saxophone sounds on “The Simpsons.”
During the camp this past week, participants got to “jam” with Norwine and other renowned jazz musicians while sharpening improvisation and performance skills. There were also two free concerts, where the public got to hear the campers and clinicians perform together.
Southern Wesleyan University is a Christ-centered, student-focused learning community devoted to transforming lives by challenging students to be dedicated scholars and servant-leaders who impact the world for Christ.
