Guest Speakers Discuss Vietnam War with Students at East End

In their study of the Vietnam War, East End 5^th graders in Mrs. Mandy Spitzmiller’s class had a sharing time with Ron and Shelly Fones who brought Mr. Fones’ uniforms from the Vietnam War.

Dr. Fones also shared her father’s, Grover White’s, uniforms from the Vietnam War with the students.

Mr. Fones is a retired Major in the United States Army.

Mr. Grover retired from the US Air Force as a Colonel. The students enjoyed the real life stories about the Vietnam War as well as the opportunity to dress as either a Colonel in the Air Force or a Major in the US Army.

Guest speakers and presentations like this make the learning come to life for the students. Garrett Nix, East End 5^th grader, is the grandson of Major Fones and the great grandson of Colonel White
