East End Students Learn About Real World

East End Elementary students in Mrs. Ann Cleveland’s GT classes are busy learning about the real world through their studies of architecture, construction, and building bridges.   Students were all assigned roles as either a project director, an architect, a carpenter, a transportation chief, or an accountant.

Each role carried with it responsibilities and duties as the students learned about the various components of this project. One of the prerequisite duties for the transportation chiefs was to pass a written driving test.

The project directors learned the importance of organization and planning.

The architects focused in their work on design, construction, and following building codes. The carpenters learned about following the architectural plans and coordination with all the various roles as they constructed.

The accountants learned the importance of budgets, balancing their funds, and auditing.  Many real-world experiences were included in this study. They also dressed for each of their roles  as they had great learning opportunities throughout this work.

The students are pictured with Mrs. Cleveland.
